Exotic Options
I’m pretty sure I have tapped into your curiosity about affordable Exotic cars by now, so I’m going to spend some time, listing some options of Exotic cars for you that would fall into this category. Unfortunately, you aren’t going to find a Ferrari Enzo at an affordable price or a Lamborghini Murcielago under $30K but there are quite a few other options out there that may be just as fast as these cars and they are sure get some crazy Exotic attention while driving down the street! I’ll go through some of the cars and talk a little about their availability, performance, recommendations, etc…
Lamborghini – Jalpa
The Lamborghini Jalpa (pronounced yall-puh) almost had the same styling curves of the Countach in my opinion. To be honest, it will be hard to find one of these under $29K, but I’m sure there are a few rare ones out there that can be found, especially over the next few years. About two years ago from now, back in 2005, I was at an Exotic car dealership and the owner was trying to get me to trade n my Lamborghini Countach replica for a Lamborghini Jalpa. He was selling the Jalpa for $35,000. He kept trying to offer me $15,000 for my countach replica… Remember, I sold my car for $25,000, that’s 10K MORE than the dealer offered! So, I guess my point is… If the dealer was selling the Jalpa for $35K, then it would probably be going for high 20’s or low 30’s if dealing with an individual. It’s typical that dealers are about $5,000 higher in price, this is why I stay away from dealerships most of the time. I found the one pictured above online, going for $33,900 from a dealership. I bet it could be talked down. This car is quick, but not like the newer Lambos. This is more of a cruiser or a collector car. The engine gaskets and associated engine parts are hard to come by, so you need to take care of this car and not rag it out. For performance, a 1983 Jalpa had a 0-60 at about 7.3 seconds, with a 15.5 the ¼ mile but this varied depending on the year model.
Lamborghini Replicas – Countach & Diablo
I’ve pretty much talked about my replica and how amazing it is to drive. Well the Diablo is the same but a little harder to come by in prices under $30K. The performance can vary. With a stock 2.8L V6 Fiero motor, they are about like an early 90’s model Mustang GT (0-60 in 6.5 seconds). Handling is INCREDIBLE though! The physics of the car being so low to the ground make them wonderful to drive! Some Lambo replicas have Chevy or North Star V8’s in them. With the V8 upgrade they will run quite a bit hotter, but be quite a bit faster. These cars are super light so they can move!
